Why Choose the Hitachi airHome 400?
A step up from entry level: enhanced comfort, air treatment technology and smart control. FrostWash, Mold Guard, advanced filtration and Wi-Fi are model dependent, so we confirm exactly what is included on the capacity you choose.
Efficient Heating & Cooling
Advanced inverter heat pump technology adjusts compressor output to help maintain comfortable room temperatures while reducing unnecessary electricity consumption.
Quiet Operation
Designed for low-noise indoor operation, making the airHome 400 suitable for bedrooms, living rooms and home offices. Verified indoor sound pressure levels are confirmed for the exact model and fan setting you choose rather than quoted as a range-wide figure.
FrostWash Technology
Where supported by the exact UK airHome 400 model, Hitachi's FrostWash technology uses a controlled freezing and defrosting cycle to help remove accumulated dirt from the heat exchanger. FrostWash does not replace regular filter cleaning or professional servicing.
Mold Guard Technology
Where supported, Hitachi's Mold Guard function helps dry internal components after operation, reducing the damp conditions that can encourage mould growth inside the unit. It is not a complete mould prevention system.
Advanced Air Filtration
We highlight the filtration and air treatment features verified for the exact model in official Hitachi documentation. Nothing is presented as standard, and no medical or health claims are made.
Smart Wi-Fi Control
Where supported, the airHome 400 can be controlled remotely through Hitachi's compatible air conditioning app, such as airCloud Go, for temperature adjustment, mode selection, schedules and energy information. Wi-Fi is not standard across every model — we'll confirm whether it is built in, requires an optional accessory, or is unavailable for the model you choose.
Comfortable Airflow
Adjustable airflow settings help distribute heated and cooled air throughout the room, with automatic swing functions where supported by the model.
Powerful Cooling
Responsive cooling helps maintain comfortable indoor temperatures during warmer weather.
Efficient Winter Heating
Heat pump technology provides efficient heating during colder months, offering an alternative to conventional direct electric heating.
Sleep Mode
On supported models, Sleep Mode adjusts system operation to help maintain comfortable conditions overnight.
Dehumidification
Dry Mode helps reduce excess indoor moisture during appropriate operating conditions.
Convenient Timer Functions
Schedule operation around your daily routine using the timer settings available on the model.
Modern Design
A clean, contemporary indoor unit designed to complement modern and traditional interiors.
R32 Refrigerant
Uses R32 refrigerant where confirmed for the selected model, offering a lower global warming potential than older R410A systems.
We only advertise features confirmed for the exact UK model and capacity you choose, so nothing here is presented as standard unless it is.

Seasonal heating efficiency
The Hitachi airHome 400 uses inverter heat pump technology to provide efficient heating and cooling. By transferring heat rather than generating it directly, the system can deliver multiple units of heating energy for each unit of electricity consumed under suitable conditions.
Because heat pump heating moves existing heat rather than converting electricity directly into heat, it can use less electricity than conventional direct electric heating to deliver the same amount of warmth, which may reduce running costs. Actual savings depend on your property, tariffs, outside temperatures and how the system is used, so we don't quote fixed figures.
Exact SEER, SCOP and energy ratings differ between capacities, and which UK model sits behind each capacity is confirmed when we quote. We'll give you the published figures for the model and capacity you choose rather than applying one model's ratings across the whole range.
Available System Sizes
We fit the Hitachi airHome 400 in the capacities below. Prices are the installed price for one room on a standard back-to-back installation.
| Nominal cooling capacity | Typical application | Installed from |
|---|---|---|
| 2.5 kW | Bedrooms and smaller living rooms | £1,899 |
| 3.5 kW | Medium-sized living rooms | £1,999 |
| 5.0 kW | Larger lounges and open-plan spaces | £2,099 |
| 7.1 kW | Large residential spaces | £2,349 |
These are the capacities held in our system and confirmed for the UK airHome 400 range. If you need a size that isn't listed, ask us and we'll confirm availability and price the exact model rather than estimating it.
Multi-split systems are quoted only where the exact indoor and outdoor models are confirmed compatible by Hitachi, so a multi-room price is never assumed.
Correct system sizing depends on room dimensions, insulation, glazing, ceiling height and heat load. Frost Air Conditioning can advise on the most suitable system.

Advanced Technology for a Cleaner System
The Hitachi airHome 400 incorporates air treatment and cleaning technology designed to help maintain the cleanliness of internal components and support comfortable indoor conditions.
FrostWash heat exchanger cleaning
Where supported, a controlled freezing and defrosting cycle helps remove accumulated dirt from the heat exchanger.
Mold Guard
Where supported, internal components are dried after operation to reduce the damp conditions that can encourage mould growth.
Air filtration
The filters fitted to the model you choose capture airborne dust as air passes through the unit.
Additional air treatment technologies
Any further Hitachi air treatment system is described only where it is confirmed in official documentation for the exact model.
Convenient cleaning cycles
Cleaning and drying cycles run from the controls, so routine upkeep needs no special equipment.
These functions support the cleanliness of the system — they are not a substitute for regular filter cleaning or professional servicing, and they do not replace the scheduled maintenance a heat pump needs to run efficiently.
We make no medical or health claims about any air treatment feature. Features are described only for the model where Hitachi confirms them.
Smart Comfort Technology
Comfortable Temperatures, Wherever You Are
With compatible Hitachi smart connectivity, you can manage your heating and cooling remotely using your smartphone.
Wi-Fi depends on the exact model
Wi-Fi is not standard across every airHome 400 capacity. For the model you choose we'll confirm whether smart control is built in, requires an optional accessory, or is unavailable.
App features vary by app version and model, so we only describe what is supported by the system we quote you.
